Swansea University opens new £450m Bay Campus and welcomes first new students

After ten years of planning and construction, Swansea University unveiled its new state-of-the-art £450m Bay Campus to students for the first time this week.
The new campus will house 5,000 students and by 2020, create around 12,000 permanent jobs. Swansea University’s vice-chancellor Professor Richard B Davies said: “It will transform this region from the heavy industry economy of yesterday to the hi-tech, knowledge economy of tomorrow." Swansea University has gone from strength to strength over the last five years and is now ranked among the top 4% of universities worldwide.
